CNSystems received the Living Standards Award 2022 in the category “Reaching International Markets” for the co-development of the international standard ISO 81060-3 for non-invasive continuous blood pressure measurement devices.
Austria’s most important prize for standardization and innovation was awarded in Vienna for the eighth time. From around 30 submissions, CNSystems could convince the jury and made it among the top-class of winners together with four other health and technology companies and organizations.
Standards play a key role in the development of products: “They not only help to save development effort and time, but also provide crucial inputs so that products are not developed beyond the market. From my point of view, local research and business people are very well advised to get even more involved in standardization“, says DDr. Anton Ofner, President of Austrian Standards International.[1]
The CNSystems team made a significant contribution to the international committee for the development of a proprietary standard for non-invasive continuous blood pressure measurement, which had not previously existed. The ISO 81060-3 standard “continuous non-invasive sphygmomanometers” facilitates the testing of non-invasive continuous blood pressure measuring devices, which can now be better evaluated using clinically relevant protocols and scientifically based criteria.
The use of non-invasive continuous measurement methods can not only improve monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of patients, but also complications during and after operations can be significantly reduced, which ultimately shortens the patient’s stay in the hospital.
